If you are a school or community garden in Arizona....we are looking for you!
The University of Arizona Maricopa County Cooperative Extension is looking for teachers, students or volunteers who would like to submit articles about their youth school or community garden projects.
The article will be published in The "Communicator" Newsletter which is published 6 times a year by the Maricopa County Master Gardeners. It has a readership among Master Gardeners, Horticulturists, and public by paid subscription.
The newsletter is one of the primary local "gardening" bibles for growing practices, calendar of events and new ideas.
The newsletter is going through some exciting changes. A recent focus group indicated there was an interest from our readership to include more personal stories/testimonials from teachers or students on their gardening projects.
This is a great opportunity for you to "grow" your gardening program and become published. Here are just a few reasons why you should consider submitting an article:
1. A great way to add a language curriculum link to the garden activity.
2. Involve other classes or students who aren't able to garden, but would like to be involved. As reporters, they can help you tell your story.
3. Add credibility as "published" program. This may help with submissions for grants, funding or recognition among your district or school.
4. Expose you to others who may help your garden project. (i.e.. volunteers, sponsors, resources)
Please let me know if you are interested. I will submit your interest to our new editors and work out a publication schedule.
Warmest regards and "Keep Growing"......Leslie Honaker
