EPA Environmental Education Grants
November 15th Deadline
The EPA FY 2001 Environmental Education Grants Program
solicitation notice (published in the August 31st Federal
Register) is seeking proposals from education institutions,
environmental and educational public agencies, and not-for-
profit organizations. Grants require non-federal matching
funds for at least 25% of the total cost of the project. The
earliest project start date is July 1, 2001.
EPA anticipates funding of less than $3 million for this annual
grant cycle (subject to appropriations and fund availability), and
usually receives many more applications than can be supported.
Because of limited funds, EPA prefers to award smaller grants
to more recipients. Also, Congress requires that at least 25%
will go to small grants of $5,000 or less. The notice states that
chances of being funded are significantly increased if you
request $5,000 or less from an EPA regional office or $100,000
or less from EPA Headquarters. For more information, see
