Hi Karen,

You should look into making some sort of frame with hinges for the
glass. You need to get a thermostatic hinge from a home greenhouse
supplier that will raise and lower the glass according to the
temperature inside the box. Right now it's still cool, in a few more
weeks the sun will blast into your box and raise the temperature enough
to cook your seedlings.

Your spacing sounds fine.
