In order to really answer the question you need to address the following:

How do you intend to grow the strawberries...as a permanent perennial, a
2-3 year perennial, as an annual, as a single cropper etc

What varieties do you wish to grow?

Are you going to fertilize, mulch, are you growing relatively
organically?

What climatic zone are you in?   

However a good general fit answer which errors on the side of caution is
to state one strawberry plant per square foot.
