I hope that it's all right to put this question out there since it is a bit
off the subject of SQFT. gardening but I have a question and am not sure
where to turn. Here goes, I planted 6 bare root roses around the top of the
rock wall around my garden. I amended the soil with special "rose dirt",
organic fertilizer and dusted the roots with bonemeal. The next morning the
backsides were completely exposed. Roots and all! You can imagine how I
felt! The planting mix that had been covering them was scattered around the
base of the area. It looked as if something had been digging for buried
treasure. The roots looked fine but what do I know! Has anyone ever had this
happen to them? What kind of critter might have done this? What should I do
in the future? Remember, I am the woman who wanted help in coming up with
covers for her raised beds. Now you know why. If they did this to my roses
what would they do to my fruits and veggies? Our property is surrounded by a
9 Ft. fence so I know it wasn't deer but, what could it have been. I have
not checked this morning yet. Wish me luck. Kimberly
