Sandy--why don't you start with a couple of squares--I use concrete blocks
filled with good stuff--and plant lettuce, greens, onions and peas now.
Lettuce is very gratifying. It grows and you can pinch off leaves and let the
rest grow. Then work up to a couple of tomatoes. By then you'll be hooked.
