I have an aversion to using the telephone when it comes to government agencies!

Would this be the map you are referring to?

According to this map, Milwaukee would be a Zone 5A or 5B.
From my personal observations, I believe that Milwaukee's growing season is a good
2 weeks shorter than the Chicago area. (1 week on each end of the season). I had a
chart like that somewhere ... from my college days ...

Anyway, doesn't this zone tell me when to plant my veggies?

I do plan on putting in a perennial shade garden, and a wild flower garden also.
Nothing exotic! I think they will all grow here.
