Ahhhh, but.....

Those frost dates are simply averages accrued over several years.  Sometimes
they're right on the money...and the last frost occurs on April 9 or 10.
Usually the last frost in your area occurs within 10 days of that date --
either way.

Very occasionally, the last frost might be sometime around March 15th or as
late as Memorial Day or you might even see snow in July in the Chesapeake
area.  'Last frost of spring' is part of those very real uncertainties which
make gardening an exercise of faith in the future, of sorts, and reminds me,
at least, that nature is real.  :)
