It's important to balance what you feed the worms--same as a compost pile. They need some "green" and "brown" stuff. Fruit flies mean that you probably have to many "green" things. Also, remember to bury new items inside the pile so the flies are not attracted to fresh scraps. Hope this helps. I teach recycling to kids and the worm bin is our biggest hit!
