Re: Fruit Flies


It's important to balance what you feed the worms--same as a compost pile.  They need some "green" and "brown" stuff.  Fruit flies mean that you probably have to many "green" things.  Also, remember to bury new items inside the pile so the flies are not attracted to fresh scraps.  

Hope this helps.  I teach recycling to kids and the worm bin is our biggest hit!

Hi,

I have a worm bin in a room downstairs.  My worm bin is beginning to develop
fruit flies, I've put very few rinds into the bin.  Does anyone have a way
to control the bugs.  It is not yet warm enough to put them outside and I
really don't want to pick bugs  out of our glasses.  Any information would
be helpful. Thanks.
