Re: Potatoes in Barrels

Radishes are one of the very fastest maturing plants and grow well in cooler
weather, so you likely could get a crop of them before your potatoes emerge.
However, you'll have to at least partially fill the container with enough soil -
to give the radishes enough time to mature before the potato sprouts pop up.
Potatoes can easily push they're growing shoots through 6" (or more) of loose,
friable soil.

Hmmm, looking forward to digging up some of last year's potatoes out of the
garden now that the snow is finally off it! :-)
