Dear SQFT's:
I really enjoyed Doreen's article and wanted to share one of the tips that I
am going to try (Doreen, I hope you don't mind).
"Staple fiber row cover around planting cages of tomatoes and peppers early
in the season to shield plants from cold, wind, disease and insects." (From
"Secrets of Great Gardeners" by Doreen Howard)
I also read in another book that in place of the row cover you can use that
plastic bubble wrap (great way to recycle that stuff too!) to cover the
planting cage around the bottom third of the cage.
I'm going to use these hints as I live in a very windy, coastal area with a
short growing season hoping it will help extend it abit. Now, if we could
just get some warm, dry weather!
