Actually, Preen is available at most home centers, nurseries, even at my
supermarket! Unfortunately, corn is not one the listed vegetables that you
can use with Preen. If you check the package, there is a list of
vegetables that you can use it with.

Here's my idea about what to do with the weeds. Last year I laid newspaper
in my flower beds and mulched over with bark dust to keep out the weeds.
Worked pretty good. I thought, why not try the same approach with the
corn? I ripped the newspaper into strips and laid them overlapping all the
around the corn plants (over top of the existing weeds). I didn't want to
spend money on bark dust, so I got a cheapo bale of hay and spread that
around too. Oh, a be sure to wet the newspaper after you lay it down-- it
keeps it in place better. Sure there was a week here and there, but for
the most part it did a great job and was pretty cheap too. After harvest,
you can dig it in, as it's biodegradable.

Hope this helps!
