Re: Rhubarb

I've tried both methods in the past. I had heard that removal is beneficial
and I have removed them when they were about a foot high (they hadn't
flowered at that point). Last year I left them flower and the stalks grew to
about 5 foot. They were quite a site. I didn't notice any difference in the
quality of the rhubarb even after the flowers opened, it made great pie with
and without strawberries. The patch I'm working is well established since it
was planted by my grandmother probably 40 years ago and has spread to cover
about a 6 foot diameter area. I don't, however, know that much about rhubarb
to say whether or not the age makes a difference. Good luck!!!
