The only thing I would bother wearing a mask for is pesticide application
(and I don't do this much anymore), or maybe spreading bone or blood
meal as has been discussed before. Do you wear a mask when you change
your cat's litter box? I wouldn't worry about eggshells. Besides,
I can never get them dry enough to crush into dust - mostly just small
pieces. I've never been able to collect enough eggshells to use as
a snail barrier - I just throw crushed eggshells in the compost pile.
I let the snails and slugs have a few plants, then go out at night
and get them.
