Not an easy solution, but it will work. Hopefully it's a small bed: 1st - Determine what direction the roots are coming from. 2nd - Dig the soil away from that side of the bed, cutting into roots. This may hurt the tree (or even kill it) depending on how close the tree is, the type of tree, its age, etc. Dig approx 18" down. 3rd - cut a piece of plywood 18" x the length of your bed and insert it into the trench you just dug using it as a barrier to stop the roots from entering your bed in the future. 4th - back fill the soil against the barrier. Note that this barrier will eventually compost. By using a thick piece of plywood, you should get years out of the barrier. Good luck and keep us posted.
