First Ripe Tomato of Season

I picked my first tomato, a Russian black heirloom, Southern Night
about an hour ago. So far, I've just looked at it with hungry thoughts!
I set out my plants (14 of them) on March 5, and this is the earliest
I've ever had ripe fruit--56 days. Southern Night usually takes
between 68 and 80 days to mature. I credit the mycorrhizal fungi I
inoculated my seedlings with for the early harvest. All my plants are
loaded, and it seems that every flower is setting fruit. I'm so
excited------and hungry for that tomato!!! I'm just waiting for my
husband to get home so we can share it!!!
