Re: spacing for toms in cages/scallions?

I have always staked in the past, because I was brought up that way and old
habits can sometimes die hard. I did it last year with my Brandywines, and
since it was my first year growing Brandywines, I was unprepared for how
huge they would get- so my stakes weren't really big enough.

Staking does work if you don't mind going out once or twice a week and
tying up branches. It's good to keep a close eye on your plants anyway.
However, this year I will be trellising tomatoes for the first time. No
reason other than that I wanted to try it because it works so great for my
cukes.

I've never been sold on cages. I just don't like the look of them- the
plants always look so sad in cages.
