RE: Vertical Zucchinis?

Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

I grow mine up stakes every year. In fact I just bought some heavy stakes
for them today, I'll go put them in and take a picture.

(Sorry, uncompressed images, about 180kb)

Other than sometimes choosing inadequate stakes, I have never had a problem.
My problem is always the Squash Vine Borers...

I just put healthy stakes on three or four corners of the plant, between the
leaves and very close to the stalk. As it grows I keep making sure the
leaves are evenly distributed around the stakes and sometimes tie a string
loosely around the stakes to keep them from spreading. Sometimes I have to
wiggle the flowers out from between the stakes.
