I bought those wooden clothespins that you use for crafts (the ones with
bulbous "heads" at the top and little wooden legs--no metal spring) and
neon-yellow nylon string and marked a grid.  I figure I can take the
markers up without untying them and use them again next year (if I can
find a way to store them without too much tangling).  I don't know yet
what I'll do about mulch.  With bigger plants, I just planned to mulch
in hills around the main stem, but I haven't thought much about the
little ones...it's raining too much to feel a lot of urgency at this
point!
