Square Foot Gardening List - http://myweb.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

Glad to hear from you Paula, I think of you each day when I watch the news.
Be safe.
My garden harvest has slowed to nothing but peppers right now. Still to
harvest are 2 watermelons and a couple of tomatoes. I started some Great
Pumpkin seeds last month and came home to work the other day to find 2 of the
plants completely gone! Only one left, but it is starting to bloom. I might
plant more to be ready by Thanksgiving but they won't make it for Halloween.
Learned alot from my first summer garden. First of all, end of May is too
late to start here on the Gulf Coast! (Planting my fall garden next week so I
guess I'll find out if middle August is too soon!)
Re: roaches I have lot's of them in my compost pile, along with lizards,
salamanders and various other creatures-yuk. But I thought that was part of
composting?
I did just start a new (for me) method - I have a plastic trash can lined
with a heavy black trash bag. I put in kithcen waste, grass clippings, ashes,
dirt, blood and bone meals. I keep adding kitchen stuff till full but also
keeping the bag closed and lid on the can. Seems to be cooking very fast (of
course the temperature is near 100 here so every thing is cooking fast). I'm
taking the bag out this weekend and will see how long it takes to be "ready".
I also hope this reduces buggage!

Fall planting ideas here are:
Already planted in the last couple of weeks-Swiss Chard, pumpkins, cukes,
green beans, Tiger Baby Watermelons
Plan to plant-Boccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, brussel sprouts, lettuce, green
and snap peas, carrots, radishes, etc. Not sure if it will get cool enough
soon enough for these crops though. What the heck I've got lot's of seeds!
Happy Gardening
Laura in hot, sunny Pensacola
