You should get the book, "Square Foot Gardening". It has all the
begining info you will need. I'll be happy to answer any more specific
questions you may have though. The method is really quite simple once
you get the Idea that plants don't have to grow in a row.
You don't say where you are or what your soil conditions are now but
basic good soil care is the same for any method, just easier to do with
Sq.Ft. gardening.
As for materials, unless you mean for raised beds, it's also about the
same as regular gardening. I use raised beds made of untreated 2x4s.
Mine are not square (4'x4') but rectangular (2x4 and 3x6) I use fence
rail with ship netting stretched across it for trellises.
I now have a full setup of drip watering using the 'Good House Keeping'
brand that I get at WalMart. It's hooked up to my well so I just flip
the switch every other day for an hour or so... I'm getting quite
lazy...
Let us know how you are doing, and feel free to write with further
questions.
