Richard,

Mel says not to add manure within six months of planting time.  It sounds
like yours has had time to decompose.  He also says to add a little extra
potassium to the soil when planting.  I hope this helps.

BTW, my carrots ("Nantes Coreless") look great this year.  I can't attest
to the flavor.  I don't eat them.  :-)  Last year I planted "Danvers Half
Long" and they looked like yours.  So, in conclusion, it may be some
types of carrots do better than others??
