Re[2]: flea beetles? and green spider

     Hi Kim,

I also live in So. Cal., and I have had similar damage to my eggplant
leaves, but it didn't seem to hurt the fruit production any. I thought
it was slug damage, or maybe grasshoppers. Just left it alone and it
     went away....

But I do know about those green spiders. I think they are beautiful,
and I don't like spiders. They are pretty big, and they like to hang
out in my tomatoes and green corn stalks, when I have corn. Probably
because they're camouflaged. I'm sure they are "good" guys. I bet they
eat aphids and white flies. I haven't heard of anyone down here having
a problem with flea beetles, but I think they are bigger than "very
     small".

Maybe other experts on the list can give you more info.

What do flea beetles look like? I think I might have them on my eggplants.
I've never seen this type of damage before, but then again I've never had
eggplant before either. The leaves have small circular holes in them spread
throughout the leaves (like you sprinkled pepper on the plant). There are
very small insects on the leaves as well.

I tried spraying the leaves w/ Ultra Fine Horticultural Oil. Didn't seem to
do much good. Any suggestions - organic prefereably.

Also, I saw a huge green spider on the same plants. Does anyone know if
they eat flea beetles (or whatever I've got). The spider was leaf colored
and about the size of a half dollar.

Thanks.
