Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

Ron,

I cut down the buddlia bush early each season and used to use the
prunings for pea sticks (now I use a metal structure with netting).

They are hollow and rather brittle but work fine for light staking.

As an aside, the Romans used bundled sticks for underground drainage
before the days of porous clay pipes. For short garden runs it may
prove to be a cheap alternative.

Regards

Brian
