Re: Bush beans - when do you take them out?

Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

Kim asked,
>Do bush beans just produce once and then you take them out?

Don't know but would like to!

She continued, singing the praises of those long, skinny green beans beloved
by the French:
>I love these haricot verte beans though. I heard Pinetree carries a pole bean
>haricot verte. Gotta try those next year as they take up so much less
>space.

"Haricot vert" just means "green bean" in French. It's not a varietal name
but rather a type of bean, so you should be able to find it from many
vendors. I really like the Pinetree folks because they package small
seed-counts and charge less than other firms, but they're not the only
source for haricots verts.

I'm not sure Kim is right about them taking up less space than other beans,
though. Skinny pods does not necessarily equal small plants.
