Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
Chris,
I haven't tried cinderblocks, but can tell you fall is the best time to
start your garden! Get someone to put down lots of soil amendments--compost,
manure and such. I'm sure someone here can give you more details on what to
add. Better still, get a soil test from your local cooperative extension and
they will tell you what your soil might need.
You don't have to till the stuff in, just cover with straw, hay, newspapers
or black plastic.
In the spring your beds will be ready to plant and as a bonus they will warm
up sooner!
Speaking as the mom of a four year old and now of a 10 week old, keep things
very simple. Plan on low maintenance crops and LOTS of weed control!

(whose community garden police are after her right now to clean her plot
better, but between the job, the kids and the heat wave, it just isn't gonna
look picture perfect real soon!)
