Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
We planted soybeans and peanuts - one to a square foot - in April and May at
school because they are Alabama crops. So, now what!? WHat can we do with
the soybeans? There are lots of pods, but I'm not sure what the next step
is for the kids. Can we eat them raw - just look at them - cook them?
I heard from a lady at the seed store down town that every Labor Day, as a
child, they dug up peanuts. THat seemed a perfect crop for school - plant
in spring and harvest in fall. Do we just dig them up, or should we wait
for leaves to die down? I read that they should be hung up to dry out for a
couple of weeks before roasting.
Thanks for any help! School starts August 18!
