RE: Too Quiet

Temps are down to low 40s at night here in Portland, Oregon, I am still harvesting kale and collards and herbs (sage, dill, oregano, rosemary) from my garden and have a covered bed (pvc hoops covered with plastic sheeting over a 4 x 6 foot bed) which has lettuces, carrots, onions and young greens. I also have overwintering onions, garlic, salsify and fava beans growing. The rest of the garden is cover cropped in buckwheat or crimson clover and hairy vetch. I ate my last cabbage last week.

>Is anybody doing some winter gardening? I've got some cold hardy plants in the
ground still and they are still holding on. Temps got down to 44 last night.
That is far enough above freezing that I can still grow the cold hardy plants.
It rarely gets below freezing here for more than a few weeks so I'm trying to
go through the winter. The plants sure don't grow fast but they are still
growing. I'd like to hear from anybody who is using cold frames or row covers
to keep the heat in durring the night.
