potatoes

i'll agree with you that my potatoes didn't prove themselves worth the
effort.  i grew them at 1 plant /SF, but found the foliage just took over
all the adjacent squares so i lost too much room.  while the potatoes were
good (yellow finns started from health-food store OG potatoes), they
weren't numerous enough to justify the space they took up (for a reasonably
long period of time, too!).  i might try growing them in some type of
container next season (aka the tire method)  but have heard such widely
differing reports on the success of that method, i'm not sure what to
expect.  and i did plan on working with compost as the filler.  i've heard
too many complaints about straw.
