Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
I am doing the same thing with my gardens because we have a 65+ pound
puppy that has to go in our back yard and run around constantly. He
loves to dig and has successfully destroyed many things already in
the gardens. At Home Depot, they have a type of fencing that is
decorative, yet functional. It comes in white or green and is 10'
long. I will have to buy about 6 of them to cover the basic garden
area, and at least 2 to go around each tree. They come in different
heights too. I started off getting the middle sized fences, but my
dog was doing hurdles over them into the gardens. Now I' buying the
ones that are about 3' high ( just guessing ). You can get these
fences at Walmart too. I thought about a cylclone fence, but I think
that would be too expensive. Also Walmart has a roll of plastic
fencing that can be put up with stakes. The rolls are around $10,
and they cover more than the decorative ones do. I'm redoing the
garden area and adding 2' around the edges that will be filled with
mulch. The whole area will be surrounded by fencing when I get done.
It will end up with seven 4X4 garden beds, and will look a little like
the dots on a domino if you were too look at it from the sky. I trust
it will work to keep the dogs and squirrels out!
