Donna,
You are lucky to have such friends. If you have plans for more beds try
to get some 4ft. logs from them. If need be you can put one on top of the
other for higher beds and hold them piled with notches in the ends less than
1 in deep across the log for a piece of 2*2. That much flat area will make
them stay piled. If your hubby doesn't own a chin <chin saw no that's chain
saw> saw, the notches could be cut with a skill saw or even a hand saw which
would require you to chisel out the excess. I am sure you would rather look
at them than cinder blocks.
