Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
This is the 2nd year at this home and my garden is as big as anyone I would
have wanted. It runs about 14X21 feet - what I did was make a grid on a
excel spreadsheet and started configuring "square foot" beds. They range in
sizes from 3x9 ft to 2x16 ft. (just a little unconventional). In each I
figured what will be planted and with the square foot method I can figure
exactly how many transplants/seeds I will need. I am doing the usual
tomatoes, peppers (hot & sweet), cukes, zukes, lettuce, root crops,
beans/peas and just for fun, I am trying to grow the "baby" corns to use for
stir fry. I also have incorporated room for herbs and lots of flowers to
attract bees (which are not too many around here, although the mosquitoes are
so plentiful they can carry you away on a warm summer nite). I have found
that the flower stalk from lambs ears attract bees by the hordes - guess
which plant is going to be moved closer to the vege garden. I also bought a
couple of asparagus roots last year - really just for the fun of it just to
see what I can get.
Now with all these grand plans, let's see what reallly happens in the growing
season. Working two jobs (7 days a week) gives little time outdoors, but
being an obsessed gardner, backyard flood lights seem to help on those nice
summer evenings to get things done.
How about anyone else..............what's growing with you?
