Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
Cheri, Pat, et al,
First, being a Virgo what some call a lengthy post and details, I call
skimming the surface. I have been made aware recently, lengthy posts are not
preferred by some here. I will do something soon, and respond w a link to
it.
As for buying Excel, I find it as expensive as the entire Office Suite, which
comes with it. (For only a little more the Pro version of Office has Access,
a super database... Tho few will use it and Katherine's Filemaker will import
from Excel and seems to be slightly better in a few web-oriented areas, and is
easy to use as any.)
Katherine... How's it going?
I would make simple note here, all your complaints about this or that are
answered w/Excel. Special entries in Red Pen? There. Day or week or months
to see special notes? Are user makable w/No knowledge. Treat it like
paper/calendar/zerox machine.
A sheet is 256 columns x 65000+ rows. (It can be treated as a database also.)
Selecting an area will allow that data to be graphed, automatically. Sketch
out a very rough design and List of what you will record, on paper first if
you waat to develope the idea. Recreate it in Excel/Lotus, etc.
I think I will add few sections, and will be very appropriate to weather. I
feel copyright enforcement will be easier also via the link, altho you will be
welcome to use the ideas for personal use freely. Like Lloyd Wright, the
archeologist/cinder block inventor. I want this to not be used for profit by
others, but accessible for use. Also I am space unlimited in posts. A
beginning tutorial on drawing your SqFt garden etc, w/Excel is in an-ot-garden
in egroups now. Altho it COULD happen today, give me a few days or so. If
someone wants to approach this seriously, I will consider teaming up.
Bill
