No lights for me but wanted to let you all know that the soda bottle
greenhouses are working out pretty good. laid on their sides with about a
4by 3 in flap cut and filled with soil- the flaps stay closed withput tape
and there seems to bee lots of headroom for the little seedling to grow as
oppsed to some of the clear take home containers. I all of my containers
have little holes in the bottoms but I am just spraying them lightly- since
they are covered moslty they are not drying out and I am trying to leave
them alone. Still not sure what I am doing. They are outside on a patioe
table in the light-but away from the cold and wind-We shall see.... The
trick will be to see how to get the little suckers out of there when they
need to be transplanted.( Just cut out the more of the top?) God I am such a
novice It takes me three times to get anything - even when it is
obvious!LOL! This is my first year really trying seeds.Earnestly and with
commiment at least. Will probably wind up buying some plants anyway- but hey-
had these seeds so - what the heck? Half of them are flowers - I figure it
is a great experiement.Went to the home and garden Expo this weelend and the
the garden Clbbers are all moaning about the ultily bills for their
greenhouses and growlights here- It really is bad- so I an going to keep on
trying to find ways. The kids and cats and lack of sunny Window space
indoors make me have to look for other ways.I put a reflective blanketover
the tops of the covered containers the table( kind of the reverse of the
thing in your car window) and then one under the trays on the table with 4
of my arthritis Rice Packs spread out under it. It didn't get too hot and
it didn't get to cold and I didn't lose anything in the frost. My neighbors
think I am a nut tho- all this for what? A bunch of lettuce and some
onions?I fiugure it beats the heck out of being a couch potato and it gives
the neighbors something to watch. I love in a mobile home park ful of mostly
old folks and they are bored out of their minds-I am always clibing into the
dumpsters to drag somthing out to use in my yard or to fix and use in my
house and they line up to watch or peek thru the curtains. They thought I was
loopy when I stripped all the branched off of the Xmas Trees left behind the
dumpsters to use to protect my plants and bushes("the winter gardener
episode something HGTV) and then actually PLANTED one as a wind break for
my hibiscus!(It worked. HAHAHAHA).I talk too much so I will shut up
now.Still working on those beds so they will be ready for my babies-Teri
