Hello all- I can't help but think that my babies
would like it much more if they were under lights - and it would be nice to
start out more things- but I just can't justify it with the power problems we
are having out here right now. I am the green monster!Next year will
try out building some sort of small lean to greenhouse proposotions that
just uses shelves and poly to capture sunlight and protect from wind-(ideas
welcome) In the mean time here a a couple of tips I came across. One is from
another forum- A someone recycled an old waterbed heater into a neat
progation bed.The heater has a rheostat so temp is easy to control. The heater
is in a removeable "drawer" and the bed is constructed from leftover
exterior plywood well caulked to keep water from reaching the
heater.
Maybe someone could use that.
The other tip is a simple one but one but I
thought- BRILLIANT! You know how hard it is to get the labels off of the
jugs and containers you use for planting( like the recycled domes roast
chicken containers from the store etc)/ Try the hair dryer! It works! Just turn
it on the the labels just peel right off of jars jugs plastic
containes etc and any bit of residue washes off easily with a scrub pad and soap
-I rited everything from oil to peanit butter to goo gone and
still couldn't get the stuff off. It is stormin Norman- and it is cold.
Just treated myself to a good pair of muck boots from the feed store and
considered it a Valentine gift to myself. The clogs just aren't cutting it
in this mud!-For the record- I have been trying to grow babies in my Southern
Exposure window and the darn cats mucked up the works- they just refused to give
up their sitting space- I find the pots turned upside down on
the floor.Man- November felt like April. February feels like
North Dakota in Sunny California. I remain- confused in
zone 9-Teri
