Re: OT?: Farmers' markets...
In answer to your question what kind of flowers do I sell, Zinnia is my best
seller, also snapdragon and aster is good. Bells of Irland and Larkspur and
Cockscomb are also good. Most any flower that grows well in the Midwest heat
and humidity that has a long stem and will hold after being cut for at least
4 days I will grow.
My market only charges $100.00 for set up fee for the entire market season.
So after expenses on a $250.00 market day my only market expenses are gas and
set up fee I will take home $235.00. I have a small greenhouse I made and
start all of my plants. Even flowers that could be direct seeded I start in
the greenhouse. By transplanting you get earlier flowers and the plants get a
headstart on the weeds.
Good luck
Dan from Indianapolis
