Soil Heating Cables

Dear List Members:

I am interested in purchasing some of those soil heating cables from
Burpee's.  I would appreciate any advice from those that have used them.  My
questions are:

1.  Do you put dirt over the cables and then just plant your seedlings
2.  Do you set a tray of seedlings on the heating cables
3.  The cold frame is about 2' x 4', divided down the middle.  How much cable
should I purchase?
