Jeanne:
Here in Western Washington State, Territorial Seed Company's catalog is
more than my seed-buying source. I rely on them for the when and how of
seed planting, too. Their web site is http://www.territorial-seed.com
and for asparagus seeds, they recommend 60-90 days before your last
frost in the greenhouse (or in the laundry room under lights, in my
case). More details are available on their site, following the links
through vegetables and to asparagus. This year will be my first year for
asparagus, and I debated back and forth on whether to buy crowns or
seeds. Territorial's smallest offering is 25 crowns (and I don't have
enough room for that many), so unless I can find an offering of fewer
crowns, I think I'll buy the seeds. It sounds challenging and it's
definitely not a vegetable offering instant gratification.
