Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
I'm probably the least one to call what I do sqft gardening. I call mine
'island beds'. With 135 acres, no way is it possible for me to island plant
all the property. But with the pastures a part of where I garden, a lot of
field problems creep in that most suburban dwellers don't have. (constant
mulching to keep mystery weeds at bay, finding ways to get around a water
deficit, etc.)
It's easier for me to rogue out a raised bed here and there than
contemplate an endless row of hoeing. And, I find that planting in shady
areas will keep my plants producing somewhat longer in the summer. So, with
SQFT, I'm usually trying to get something to grow to shade something else.
If I crowd beds with wanted plants, then the unwanted stuff has less of a
chance. Besides, the more islands I put in, the less yard to mow!
