luck. If you don't have any date sensitive applications, don't sweat it but if

Some software for Pentium works on 486.  No matter what, 1) Risk it... 2) 
Backup your stuff BEFORE any install.
This means 1) Your data (letters U want... 2) All settings, register, bios
settings, (config.sys, that stuff.)  Some software like Norton calls it a
"rescue disk"
