Re: [Hot Compost!]

Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html "Over half of the chickens and turkeys examined in grocery stores in the USA in 1997 were contaminated with Campylobacter jejuni, and some 20% of the strains were resistant to flouroquinolone antibiotics.  These very antibiotics are given to chickens in their drinking water to prevent E. coli infection! [author's emphasis]  The Food and Drug Administration's approval oin 1995 of a flouroquinolone for use in poultry drinking water has provided an opportunity for resistance to develop to all antiobiotics of that class, which includes ciprofloxacin"

So as with chicken and turkey bought at the market, I would be careful to get that compost
killer hot, wash everything grown in it carefully, wash hands and tools.  I'm sure you all do, but maybe a reminder wouldn't hurt.
