I live in zone 6B also, in northwest Arkansas. I've always waited to plant
potatoes because it's too wet in March. Even with planting potatoes in May I
got a good crop. Other years the problem wasn't the weather but grubs! My
May-planted potato crop was successful, but the little buggers had hollowed
out every single potato and lay on their fat little disgusting sides inside
the empty tubers! This year, because I have such a small space, I'm going to
try one of those Potato Towers from Gardner's Supply.
