Hi there,
The worms are the larva of a butterfly. There is a product called Dipel
BT which only killes the worms.
You could also tent out the butterflies as well as the rabbits by using
screening in the place of the chicken wire. Only a thought.  Dried Blood
sprinkled around the ground beneath the plants repels rabbits. And there
is a product sold by peace gardens that is composed of fox urine that
will keep rabbits and wood chucks from you yard.  Smitty
