I read Mels' book several years ago and could not understand why it was such
a big deal. Then about two and one half years ago I lost my right leg above
the knee. At the age of 49 I did not want to stop gardening and could no
longer afford to buy land. I owned a one half acre plot of land in downtown
Indianapolis, Indiana with a house on it. So I started squarefoot gardening.
I now have 41 4'x8' beds and 28 2'x8' beds. I cannot believe how much produce
and flowers I can grow in such a small space. The system is nearly perfect.
Even someone with a disability such as my can grow and sell flowers and
produce and enjoy the hobby I have so enjoyed my entire life with this
system. I hope you find the same enjoyment and pleasure I have with this
system. If I can be of any help to you let me know.
Dan
