a possible way to deal with this (contaminated soil) is to plant mustard.
according to an article i read recently in the science section of the ny
times,the mustard absorbs metals and toxics, and the plants are then
discarded as toxic waste. however it's not clear at what point the wood
stops leaching the toxic stuff,but for old beds this may work.
