Re: Org. Gardening article

Before anyone on the list tries to be helpful and types in
the article, please let me point out that it would be a violation
of American copyright law, unless you contact Organic Gardening
and get permission. Actually, they might be happy to give it, but
it is legally necessary before posting. On the other hand, a
nice paraphrase is perfectly legal.
Here's my paraphrase:
Plant 4 seeds per square foot in a 4'x4' bed. He recommends the shorter
varieties like Early Sunglow and Butterfruit. He reaped 64 ears from
those 16 square feet, and suggests that you could get as many as 128
if you use Early Sunglow and get 2 ears per stalk. He also suggests
and a color sketch depicts how you can use 1" chicken wire with corner
stakes all around the corn (including the top) to protect the whole
patch from "critters". He gives a paragraph of detail how to build this
in such a way that you can easily get to the corn when you need to.

Personally, I can't see how you're supposed to do any weeding down at
the bottom (since it's the 4' high top that lifts up) or how to reach
the corn in the middle that might not be at the very top of the stalks,
but then I'm short.
