Tomatoe problem

Hello fellow squarefooters. Being a novice gardener (and netter) I
generally lurk and have learned alot from everyone over the past months.
Given time and experience I hope to be a better contributor. Meanwhile, I
have a problem. I had a great year for tomatoes and froze most of them
whole for winter use. Now that I'm using them, I find that many of them
have some kind of brownish/black spot on the seeds inside.
The tomatoes themselves look great, but for these dime sized fungus looking
growths on the inside. Its on the seeds only and not the flesh of the
tomatoe. There is no liquid (or do you call it gel?) so to speak of in the
tomatoes except right on the seeds (they are Roma's and Early Girls). In
other words, there is alot of air space in there. I've cut the fungus parts
off and used 'em any way (tasted great), but I want perfect tomatoes. <am I
living a fantasy or what? :')>
Any advise would be appreciated.
TIA
Dawn
