Introduction

Hello list:
I've been reading your posts for about a week now, and while I think I know
more now about nasturtiums than I really wanted to, I am generally delighted
with the opportunity to learn from your experiences...should save me some
time.
My husband, two and one half daughters, bassett hound, cat and 5 pigeons
and I have purchased our first house. A tiny lot carved out of some farm
property near Forest Grove, Oregon. (30 miles west of Portland). Tiny. Hence
the need to explore square foot gardening.
I have to make this little space multiple use. Aside from the two raised
square foot beds on the sunny side of the house, for which I am sacrificing a
rhody and azalea, my solution is to put a picket fence up to contain the kids
and dog and garden on the outside of it. I'm going to try to blend plants for
food with natives and selected ornamentals. And of course with toddlers and a
hound, nothing can be toxic.
Can't wait for the weather to change.
  Thanks again.
Colleen Cornish
