What can I plant now? In Louisiana zone 8b

Jane,
Call the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service and ask for publication
1980, "Louisiana Vegetable Planting Guide." It lists all sorts of veggies,
and when to grow them in La. According to this list, in Jan-Feb, you can
plant all the veggies you asked about, but I'd recommend against broccoli.
It usually gets too hot too fast for broccoli to mature in the spring. It's
much better planted in the fall around September. And unless you have the
space, some of these longer growing veggies will still be taking up space
when it's time to plant the tomatoes, beans, cucumbers, etc. in the spring
- around March to April.

When you call the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service, be sure to ask
about other booklets they offer. There are some really good ones on
tomatoes, & cucumbers, as well as composting, nematode management, starting
a new garden and soil management. Plus, they put out a newsletter every 2
months which shows what can be planted. Plus, it's all free!!

Happy Gardening in Louisiana,
