Hi Dot,
British Columbia does not sound like zone 7 to me, but I could be
wrong. You may have some kind of warming effect being near the
ocean. I am in So. California and my USDA zone is 9. Being on the
Western side of the U.S., we also go by Sunset zones. I am Sunset
zone 18-21 (I can't remember which but I think it is 19 - my Sunset
Western Garden book is at home).
